|Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11
Did you know that Anna Jarvis was the founder of Mother's Day?
Anna is the person most credited with turning the second Sunday of May into Mother's Day which this year celebrates a milestone--its 100 year anniversary.
Another person helped launch the national holiday with the stroke of his pen--the U.S. president in 1914--Woodrow Wilson.
Happy 100th anniversary, Mother's Day! And a very happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

Reddaway Helps Make A Cleaner California
The California Environmental Protection Agency (C-EPA) has recently issued Reddaway a Certificate of Reporting Completion: Truck and Bus Regulation for compliance with new clean air standards for transportation carriers.
Our certification, issued by the C-EPA's Air Resources Board (ARB), is for having met the requirements of title 13, California Code of Regulations, section 2025 of the Truck and Bus Regulation.
So what does all that mean?
It means that Reddaway has met the newest standards for vehicle efficiency and emissions required by the state of California.
Reddaway's Californian fleet of 632 vehicles have met these standards calling for use of aerodynamic tractors and trailers that are also equipped with low rolling resistance tires.
These technological advances result in dramatic reductions in greenhouse gas emissions by making these vehicles more fuel-efficient.
The benefits of this new regulation are numerous and significant. And in addition to the positive effects on climate change and ozone depletion, these regulations will make a large impact on public health by reducing the presence of cancerous toxins in the air.
According to ARB figures, approximately 3,500 premature deaths statewide will be avoided by reducing the cancer risks of particulate matter exhaust from diesel engines!
There is no natural resource more precious than the air we breathe, and Reddaway is proud to do our part in protecting it.
Reddaway Secures All-Star Safety Status
The Colorado Motor Carriers Association (CMCA) has recently recognized Reddaway for an outstanding safety performance throughout 2013.
On April 4, the CMCA presented Reddaway with one of its prestigious Fleet Safety Awards at an awards banquet held at the Double Tree Hotel in Denver, Colorado.
Reddaway received the third place award in the LTL Over 3 Million Miles category. This marks the third consecutive year that Reddaway has received a Fleet Safety Award from the CMCA!
Reddaway secured the win by virtue of logging an incredibly impressive safety record in the state of Colorado of just 0.65 accidents per million miles driven! That's a whole lot of safe driving!
There to accept the award for Reddaway was Denver Service Center Manager, Jim Whitbread (right), accompanied by his wife Yvonne, and Denver Assistant Service Center Manager, Zach Higgins (left).
"Drivers that drive through the Colorado Mountains during the winter experience some of the worst driving conditions in the United States," Jim Whitbread said. "They have to be prepared for blizzard conditions, wind, ice and snow at any time. I am very proud of these drivers, and they deserve the credit for Reddaway receiving this award."
Safety serves as its own reward. However, in addition to the health and well-being of the country's motorists, safety equates to better customer service.
On-time, damage-free reliability--delivered to you by the many hardworking, and safety-committed professionals at Reddaway!
Reddaway Rallies For Oso Mudslide Victims
On Saturday, March 22, at 10:37 a.m., a large and devastating mudslide swept across a portion of Snohomish County, Washington, just 4 miles east of the city of Oso. The slide covered an area of about one square mile with mud and debris.
As of April 28, 2014, a confirmed 41individuals' lives were taken by the mudslide and others are missing. The entire country heard news of this tragedy when it struck, but none felt its effects as acutely as the individuals of Snohomish and neighboring counties.
Amongst that group are the employees of the Reddaway Burlington, WA service center. Employees there responded to the shocking event proactively. Led by Burlington Service Center Manager, Terry Schirman, the team has launched a charitable drive for individuals affected by the slide.
The drive began on April 1, and will continue until mid-May. Efforts have spread from our Burlington terminal to include the Reddaway Seattle and Tacoma facilities.
The drive hopes to raise as much as possible of essential, much-needed items such as food, water, clothing, baby necessities, personal hygiene products and cleaning supplies.
The Darrington Fire Department has offered to help store and distribute the goods. The first delivery was made up of donations from two Reddaway customers.
As the drive continues, it has already demonstrated the incredible potential of people working together.
We would like to thank all of the amazing members of Team Reddaway and our valued customers, who have pitched in to help the community in this time of need.

Showing Our Support For America’s Youth
Recently, a very kind message came our way from a fellow motorist in the great state of Colorado. When Elmina T. from Colorado Springs spotted a Reddaway tractor pulling a D.A.R.E. promotional trailer on the highway, she was compelled to send a letter of thanks for supporting a cause that is dear to her.
"Today on I-25 I spotted a D.A.R.E. trailer pulled by a Reddaway tractor," Elmina wrote. "I am a volunteer with the D.A.R.E. program through the El Paso County Sheriff's Department. It was so nice to see your truck traveling through our state with the D.A.R.E. message. I am sure if any of our kids would have seen it, they would have been excited. I just want to thank you for supporting such an important program for our youth. We need more companies like you to do the same. Thank you so much for supporting D.A.R.E.!"
And thank you so much for such a wonderful message, Elmina! Reddaway strives to be a valuable member of our communities.
The Reddaway D.A.R.E. trailer has been used throughout the majority of our service footprint, including Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Colorado. Maybe it will visit your city next!
